NEA’s Bold Step for Elevating Cleaning Business Standards

In a significant step forward, the National Environment Agency (NEA) is spearheading an initiative to revamp the general cleaning business licensing in Singapore. This move aims to boost the skill sets of professional cleaners, fostering a noticeable rise in public health standards across the industry.

At Lifeline Cleaning, we follow the NEA’s guidelines and framework closely. We aim to be the first to adopt any new rules or requirements from the government and governing agencies like the NEA and MOM. We hold the NEA Cleanmark Silver accreditation and the MOM – PW MARK, showing our commitment to excellence in the industry.

Enhancing Cleaning Business Licensing Framework

Since its initiation on 1st September 2014, the general cleaning business licensing scheme introduced by the NEA has been instrumental in standardising the cleaning industry. The evolving demands and expectations for quality cleaning services companies in Singapore, further highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, have necessitated advancements in technology and digitalisation within the sector. This transformation aims to meet heightened service expectations and address current manpower challenges.

Key Revisions to the Licensing Framework

Scheduled to take effect from 1st January 2024, the revised framework incorporates feedback gathered from various consultations with industry stakeholders conducted over the past few years.

To facilitate a smooth transition to the new guidelines, several steps have been undertaken. These include the enhancement of training requirements from 31st December 2022, aligning with the recommendations from the Tripartite Cluster for Cleaners (TCC) in 2021. This involves obligatory training modules focusing on Workplace Safety and Health, along with other core modules endorsed by TCC to uplift the workforce competency.

New Licensing Structure

The current licensing and the Enhanced Clean Mark Accreditation Scheme will be amalgamated into a single framework, comprising three classes of licences with a 2-year validity period. This change is geared towards aiding service buyers in making informed decisions when selecting appropriate cleaning services. A noteworthy addition to the licensing requirements is the incorporation of the bizSAFE Certification, encouraging a national shift towards better workplace safety.

  • Class 3 Licence: This non-renewable tier is designed to assist new and existing businesses that cannot instantly comply with the criteria for Class 1 or 2. This option is available once upon the expiration of the existing licence, effective till 31st December 2023.
  • Class 2 Licence: A basic steady-state tier requiring businesses to satisfy the criteria pertaining to paid-up capital and bizSAFE certification.
  • Class 1 Licence: An enhanced tier demanding higher paid-up capital and workforce training in at least 3 WSQ modules. This level reflects businesses with advanced capabilities, promising better resources for handling substantial cleaning projects.

Anticipated Positive Impact on the Sector

As industry leaders like Mr Tony Chooi, the President of the Environmental Management Association of Singapore, note, this revision in licensing framework is a welcome change. It promises to uplift the cleaning sector standards, fostering a resilient and competent workforce.

By encouraging technology adoption to optimise manpower and improve service delivery, the cleaning sector in Singapore is poised to witness a significant elevation in service standards and workforce welfare in the near term.

Building Resilience and Professionalism

In a landscape where excellence is not just pursued but expected, the initiatives being forfronted by the National Environment Agency (NEA) stand as a beacon of innovation and foresight. As we transition into an era of heightened cleanliness and hygiene standards, the augmentation of resilience and professionalism in the environmental services sector becomes not just beneficial, but essential. Here, we delve deeper into the nuances of this transformative journey orchestrated by the NEA.

NEA’s Collaborative Approach

In the relentless pursuit of excellence, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has been fostering robust collaborations with industry stalwarts and unions. These concerted efforts are instrumental in reshaping Singapore’s environmental services sector into a powerhouse of resilience and professionalism. The collaboration isn’t just about policy adjustments; it’s about cultivating a community that is proficient and adaptable to the evolving needs of the industry.

Nurturing Workforce Development

Central to this transformative journey is the emphasis on comprehensive workforce development in Singapore. The NEA is actively encouraging the assimilation of modern technology and skill enhancement in the cleaning sector. This proactive stance not only helps to meet the burgeoning demand for high-quality cleaning services but also aids in manoeuvring through the ongoing manpower challenges with ease.

Steps taken by Lifeline Cleaning

In the wake of NEA’s transformative initiatives, Lifeline Cleaning steadfastly commits to not only keeping pace but setting the benchmark for excellence within the industry.

Decoding Cleaning Service Schemes: Quality Over Low Cost

In the bustling urban landscape of Singapore, cleaning services are no longer just a luxury; they’re a necessity.

But be wary, while some services lure you in with low prices, it’s crucial to ponder the hidden costs. Could these seemingly budget-friendly options actually be cutting corners, perhaps even resorting to illegal labour practices? Remember, if a deal appears too good to be true, chances are it probably is.

In this blog, we will delve into the pitfalls of falling for these ‘too good to be true’ offers and guide you on how to choose a cleaning service that offers both quality and reliability.

Understanding Cleaning Service Schemes

Navigating the list of cleaning companies in Singapore can be a daunting task, especially with the rise of various devious tactics used to ensnare unsuspecting customers. One of the most common strategies employed is offering deceptively low prices to grab attention. While the allure of saving money is tempting, such deals often come with hidden costs that might not be immediately apparent.

Whether it’s inadequate cleaning, the use of subpar cleaning materials, or even illegal labour, these low-cost services frequently deliver less than what they promise. The reality is that you might end up paying far more in terms of stress, potential health hazards, and rectification works.

Therefore, it’s critical to look beyond price tags and assess the real value offered.

Red Flags to Watch For

Before diving into specific warning signs, it’s important to acknowledge that some cleaning companies may not prioritise your needs and concerns. Knowing what to look out for can help you make a more informed decision.

1. Be Cautious of Aggressive Sales Tactics

While sales promotions are common in any industry, be wary if a cleaning company pressures you to make a quick decision. Aggressive sales tactics like limited-time offers or fear-based selling are often red flags that may indicate the company isn’t prioritising your needs.

2. Weighing Quality Against Cost

While you might find services that offer lower rates, consider what compromises are being made to make these tedious services so affordable and cheap. Is the company cutting corners in their cleaning procedures or using cheaper, potentially harmful cleaning supplies? Moreover, there is a possibility that the companies might even be overlooking labour laws to support their ability to provide such cheap services. This not only jeopardises the well-being of the workers but may also expose you to legal and ethical risks.

Tips for Avoiding Cleaning Service Schemes

Just like you’d guard against phishing scams online, be cautious with cleaning services in Singapore that may use similar tactics. Here are some strategies to ensure you’re choosing a legitimate and reliable service.

1. Conduct Thorough Research on the Cleaning Company

The first line of defence against schemes is to thoroughly research any potential cleaning company. Investigate their credentials, including accreditations and awards, to assess their level of professionalism and industry recognition.

2. Check Customer Reviews Across Multiple Platforms

Your next step should be to consult customer reviews on various platforms. These reviews provide valuable insights into the reliability and quality of the cleaning services offered. Negative reviews, especially recurring issues mentioned by different customers, can be a significant red flag.

3. Seek Personal Recommendations for Added Assurance

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of personal recommendations. Trusted friends and family are likely to offer insights that can be invaluable in making a final decision. Moreover, word-of-mouth can often be the most reliable source when considering your options.

Choosing Quality Cleaning Services

When it comes to cleaning services in Singapore, you get what you pay for. Opting for quality is not just a choice but a long-term investment for your business and well-being. In a time when the lowest quote no longer serves as a reliable benchmark, this section serves as a guide.

1. Invest in Reputable Cleaning Services

Choosing a reputable and trustworthy cleaning service is more than a simple transaction; it’s an investment in your peace of mind. Such companies adhere to industry best practices and legal standards, such as the employment of legitimate manpower. Look for accreditations and awards that vouch for their professionalism. Lifeline Cleaning, for instance, boasts the following certifications:

  • ISO 45001:2018
  • ISO 9001:2015
  • bizSAFE STAR
  • NEA Clean Mark Silver
  • Progressive Wage (PW) Mark
  • Promising SME 500
  • Top 100 Singapore Excellence Award

2. Make Quality Your Benchmark

Quality-oriented companies go above and beyond the call of duty. They employ well-trained, skilled staff and use top-of-the-line cleaning products to ensure your space is as clean as possible.

3. Evaluate Customer Satisfaction for Reliability

Reliable companies strive for more than just cleanliness; they aim for customer satisfaction. By consistently delivering excellent service, they build long-term relationships with their clients, creating a win-win scenario for both parties.

How Covid-19 Disinfection Services Can Save Your Business in Singapore

Even as major easing of the COVID-19 measures have been announced, practices such as mask wearing, the avoidance of large crowds and observing safe distancing continues to be practised by many in Singapore. Even in a nationwide online study by the Nanyang Technological University in 2021, 6 out of 10 Singaporeans said that they will continue to take precautionary measures and practise good hygiene even if the pandemic is well under control. This clearly demonstrates the long-term effects that the pandemic has on an individual’s social behaviour. As Singaporean’s show their utmost willingness to adopt good hygiene habits even after the pandemic, should business owners do their part in maintaining a healthy facility? And what can be done so that employees feel safe as they return back to work?

Absenteeism Due to Covid-19

At the start of 2022, the Ministry of Health (MOH) stated that the absenteeism rate could spike due to the ongoing Omicron wave of COVID-19 infections. With this in mind, it has become imperative for businesses to prepare for any further surges in infections. As the high case numbers in the workforce leads to disruption in business operations, implementing the proper business continuity plan alongside a disinfection system is important.

Loss in Productivity Due to COVID-19

Companies have been following innovative strategies to offer alternative work spaces to their employees to match the changes brought about by the pandemic, and this includes allowing work from home arrangements. However, a survey from engagerocket shows that 36% of employees in Singapore feel less productive WFH compared to working in the office. To help maintain the pre-pandemic levels of productivity, it thus becomes crucial for companies to re-open their doors and allow employees to return to the office. But to ensure that employees feel safe to return to work,  a hygienic workplace is vital in boosting their confidence.

Safe Practices for In-house Office Workers

Sooner or later, employees will return to the offices after an extended covid work-from-home situation, but when the time arrives, it is your job to keep your office space hygienic. As such, a clean and hygienic workplace is critical to the success of any business. To keep your staff healthy, there should be a thorough cleaning and disinfection plan in place to reduce the risk of infection.

While this may seem like a matter that can be taken on by your own staff,  self-conducting office disinfection methods may not be the best practice for employees’ health and safety. Office disinfection services provided by a team of well-trained professional office cleaning staff are not the same as routine cleaning service. Professional cleaning services leverage special techniques and procedures to ensure that everything is done properly to ensure the safety and health of your staff while adhering to COVID-19 regulations.

Loopholes in Self Conducting Office Disinfection

Office cleaning is a task that requires commitment, discipline and skill. If you’re using a disinfectant for your office premises that’s ineffective against coronavirus and other threats, it could endanger your workers. Moreover, office cleaning and proper disinfection is not only about sweeping and mopping the floors. The right tools and supplies should be used while cleaning to complete the job effectively.

Cleaning and sanitation guidelines have been introduced by the National Environment Agency (NEA), in consultation with the Ministry of Health, to aid office and business operators in cleaning areas that have been exposed to confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus. From using the proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to preparing the right disinfectant that is listed in the NEA list of active ingredients for surface disinfection, there are several factors take note of and implement in order to establish a structured cleaning and disinfection regime that will effectively minimise the risk of transmission of the virus. Given the complexity of this process and the number of precautionary measures required to remain safe, engaging professional cleaning services provided by NEA approved disinfection companies is always the safest bet.

4 Ways Industrial Cleaning Can Boost Your Company’s Bottom Line

Industrial cleaning is an aspect that most business and commercial organisations often overlook. However, it is essential to pay attention to your plants, warehouses, and storehouses as they are valuable assets directly facilitating your company’s bottom line, customer satisfaction and overall reputation. At Lifeline Cleaning, our industrial cleaning services comprise deep cleaning and disinfection services for industrial facilities, self-storage buildings, warehouses, factories, manufacturing plants, and even power plants.

How Can Industrial Cleaning Services Boost Business Growth in Singapore?

Industrial deep cleaning holds numerous business benefits ranging from enhancing your equipment’s lifespan to securing your employees’ health. You may shift the burden of cleaning to your employees, but it’s better to engage professional industrial cleaning service providers who know what they are doing and are cost-effective. Some of the ways in which industrial cleaning adds value to your business are as follows:

1. Creating Healthier And Safer Work Environments

A healthier and safer work environment is one of the best advantages industrial deep cleaning services can offer your employees. Industrial cleaning reduces accident rates and problems associated with cross-contamination or issues with equipment. Professional industrial cleaning also helps eliminate bacteria and viruses from workplaces. The accumulation of dust, dirt, and grime can lead to irritation, infection, and allergic reactions amongst employees, and workers in poor health make for poor productivity.

2. Maintained Industrial Material/Stock Organisation

Maintaining the cleanliness of warehouses and storage facilities is an arduous task. The storage spaces are mainly massive and require keen attention to managing everything according to their nuanced needs. However, professional cleaning services in Singapore—such as Lifeline Cleaning—can help you clean your industrial facilities and make sure all your stock and materials are arranged as they need to be. This way, workers no longer have to spend hours locating items. With everything well organised, your business can enjoy enhanced productivity and increased profits at no expense of employee satisfaction.

3. Increased Productivity with Increased Employee Satisfaction

As mentioned previously, a healthy and safe work environment raises employee satisfaction, which is directly associated with productivity levels. When employees feel safe and have no complaints about their work environment, they are likely to be more engaged at work. A clean work environment leads to better concentration and increased productivity, effectively ensuring bottom-line growth. Being a leading professional cleaning company, Lifeline Cleaning has worked with several industrial clients in Singapore, providing all the necessary support required to achieve optimal results from our services. You can check out our demonstrated portfolio of industrial cleaning services clients.

4. Greater Cost-Savings and Higher Work Output

Lastly, engaging  professional industrial cleaning services is fruitful for your business in Singapore because your employees spend less time performing cleaning on their own, so their work hours can be utilised more efficiently and effectively. If you give your workers the responsibility of cleaning, it will also likely cost much more than the regular professional cleaning service fee. In addition, professional industrial cleaners know how to deal with hazardous materials like chemicals and heavy machinery, which can save you a lot of capital in terms of prevention of unwanted accidents. Reduced absenteeism due to a healthy work environment poses yet another source of cost-savings that businesses can enjoy with the help of professional cleaning companies in Singapore.

4 Reasons Why You Should Be Deep Cleaning Your Upholstery

Are you constantly sneezing and coughing at home or in the office? It’s probably time for an ART test. Negative? Good. Now, deep clean your upholstery.

Many have spent hours on end and rivers of sweat, in efforts to make sure their living or working environment is as clean as clean can be. Though often to no avail. Instead, most end up with a room seemingly spick and span, but still cough- and sneeze-inducing.

Why? Any office cleaning company in Singapore knows why: deep cleaning upholstery was something altogether neglected.

Yes, you do have to deep clean your home sofa. And your cushions and ottomans and draperies, too. Even your padded office chairs and the couch in the communal area, or—if applicable—your restaurant booths, barstools, and banquettes.

Dust and grime build up easily over time, especially in upholstered furniture. Deep cleaning your upholstery should be taken as mandatory if you’re looking to create a clean environment. Not to mention, there’s a whole plethora of varied benefits that come along with such efforts as well.

In fact, here are 4 reasons why you should be deep cleaning your upholstery.

1. Improved Air Quality

Dust and allergens retained in your upholstery is released into the air each time you sit on it. The compromised quality of air can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems over time, especially if mould has formed in the nooks and crevices of your upholstered furniture.

By deep cleaning your upholstery, you’ll significantly improve the air quality and create a safe, clean, and healthy environment out of your home, office, or restaurant.

2. Prevention of Infestation

Upholstery is prone to infestation by dustmites, fleas, or mould when left neglected. Such infestations are not only dangerous to your health and well-being, but can also easily spread to other areas and quickly get out of hand.

So, before it becomes a costly endeavor with the throwing away of furniture and calling in pest control, simply deep clean your upholstery or invest in annual deep cleaning services from a professional cleaning company in Singapore.

3. Removes Stubborn Odours

It’s likely that the upholstered chairs in your dining area or the couch in your office pantry is the source of that odour you just can’t seem to get rid of. Even cooking odours or food scents can stick to upholstery in a stubborn way—sneakily, too, without a stain in sight.

Deep cleaning your upholstery—whether by yourself or through professional deep clean house services—can remove these unpleasant odours, and any stains that come along with it.

4. Furniture Longevity

Upholstered furniture tend to thin and fade over time, though this can be easily prevented with regular deep cleaning. Dust and dirt trapped in your upholstery act like bits of sandpaper rubbing against the fabric, and removing them can significantly improve the durability of your upholstery.

Deep cleaning also keeps bright colours bright and textures as they should be, while eliminating stains, dirt, and grime.

Altogether, the longevity of your furniture can be improved with deep cleaning, and you’ll save money in the long-run since you won’t have to replace them as often.

Get Professional Cleaning Services with Singapore’s Leading Company in Cleaning Services

Though you may be tempted to start deep cleaning right away, we at Lifeline Cleaning would recommend you not to do so. One of the reasons why professional cleaning services are so highly sought after in Singapore is because there are many issues that can arise from improper deep cleaning practices.

For example, without fully extracting residual moisture, your deep cleaning efforts may lead to further problems such as mould, mildew, and further staining. Also, using the right cleaning agents—such as Zero Water—is extremely important, lest you end up ruining your upholstery instead of cleaning them.

But fret not! Lifeline Cleaning provides affordable professional cleaning services all across Singapore, inclusive of even office cleaning, commercial cleaning, and restaurant cleaning — for all your deep cleaning needs and more.

Poor Pantry Hygiene is NSFW! 5 Ways to Keep Office Pantries Clean

The office pantry — where employees looking for respite can take their much-needed breaks. That is unless it’s left in poor conditions, which, in that case, may be the last place they’d want to be!

After all, an ill-maintained office pantry is predisposed to harmful germs in pantry stock; dirt and dust that can cause skin irritations; and even infestation problems to do with ants, cockroaches, rats, and even shrews.

With the pantry being a communal place for snacking, dining, and relaxing, it’s of utmost importance that companies do their best to keep this area of the office clean, such that employees have a safe space to truly unwind and de-stress or have their meals in.

In that vein, here are five simple kitchen etiquettes you can incorporate into your company culture, to ensure that your office pantry stays spick-and-span clean.

1. Microwave Manners

Nobody likes the idea of heating up their food inside a dirty microwave. So, make sure your employees follow these two simple rules:

First, though covered air-tight containers are a big no-no for microwaves, all employees should ensure that they place a loose cover atop their food whenever using the microwave. This prevents food splatters and spillage—which are the main culprits behind dirty microwaves—while also helps their food get heated more evenly (a win-win, see?).

Second, in the case where there are splatters, make sure they are wiped up with a damp cloth as soon as the microwave cools down. Even better, invest in a non-toxic, food-equipment-friendly cleaning agent to ensure your microwave is the cleanest it can be. This will help prevent food splatters from crusting up and staining the microwave.

2. Clean-As-You-Go Courtesy

The last thing you’d want is a messy kitchen counter and stacks of dirty dishes in the sink. These are prime conditions for pest infestation and bacterial growth, and leaving such conditions to fester may lead you to eventually require professional office cleaning services.

Get your employees to adopt a clean-as-you-go mindset; if everyone picks up after themselves, there’ll be little to no mess to worry about at the end of the day.

3. Refrigerator Resilience

This one’s simple: if there’s rotting food in the fridge—doesn’t matter if it’s spoiled meat, sour dairy, or mouldy produce—throw them away immediately! Make sure your employees keep track of their own food and beverages that they store in the pantry fridge.

You may also want to implement a system where the refrigerator is checked for any expired or expiring items at the end of each week; in other words, make refrigerator resilience part of your office cleaning routine!

4. Alerting Authorities

As much as we hate it, kitchen accidents do happen, and the results can often be a literal mess. In cases where employees find themselves facing spills or other mishmashes that’s too much for them to handle, they should alert the relevant authorities — which in most cases mean the friendly office cleaning personnel!

Aside from food spills, employees should also voice out if ever anything breaks, or if they’ve noticed any essential supplies such as paper towels start to run low.

5. Call In the Calvary!

And last but not least—in fact, perhaps the most important of all—is an etiquette not so much for employees to follow, but one employers must uphold if they want to provide their workers with a clean office pantry to enjoy.

Employers should definitely, absolutely, without hesitation, call in for professional help wherever and whenever needed.

Professional cleaning services exist in Singapore, and affordable expert contractors such as Lifeline Cleaning can get complex office cleaning issues out of the way for you and your employees.

If your office pantry (or your entire office in general, even) is currently in a dire state, you can also engage us for our office cleaning services, such that your employees can see and feel the difference a clean office and office pantry can make.

That way, they’re bound to be more motivated to adopt the etiquettes outlined above, and everyone can then enjoy a clean office pantry for good!

How do You Choose a Professional Office Cleaning Service

What should you look for in a professional commercial cleaning service? Hiring a reliable, professional office cleaning company in Singapore is a decision that should not be taken lightly. You would want the best price, but you need to consider credibility, value and quality of the service that you hire.

Your Budget

When hiring a commercial and office cleaning company, the budget allocated for outsourcing these services is a major concern. You can either choose to hire the services of a large enterprise or a small-scale cleaning company. You would, of course, have to weigh the cost versus the value that these cleaning companies offer. A large-scale cleaning company in Singapore would have the latest cleaning technology and equipment available to provide more professional commercial and office cleaning services. A small-scale company may be more affordable without the cleaning equipment. However, that does not mean they cannot be effective in cleaning the office space. It depends on the size of your office, and the type of cleaning you would require.

Your budget may be a factor in deciding the professional office cleaning services you hire, but it should not be the deciding factor. Below are several other factors that you should look out for before making your choice. Office cleanliness goes beyond having a workable environment as it affects employee welfare, improves productivity, hygiene and health of both clients and employees.

Quality of Commercial and Office Cleaning Service

Keep an eye out for certain qualities that could point to the reliability of the company you are considering to engage.

One indicator would be the training and certification of their personnel. A trustworthy company would train and certify its employees to be better and more knowledgeable workers. Cleaning seems to be an easy task, right? However, there is a lot of expertise needed to clean commercial places thoroughly and effectively.

Innovation is also important in this industry. Having specialised cleaning tools and cleaning solutions is a sign of a professional commercial cleaning service. While they need not always have the most advanced and high tech equipment, a reliable office cleaning company should have more than just buckets, mops and soap. You must use different cleaning solutions and cleaning methods to clean different surfaces and materials.

Customisable Services

Every company has a different way they would approach cleaning. Every office is also different and has specific requirements. The cleaning company in Singapore should be able to offer a range of services and plans that are customisable to your specific needs. As mentioned previously, different materials of the drapes or flooring in the office would require different cleaning methods. If your office space has high ceilings, the company you hire should be able to accommodate them. Carpets are a common feature and the main component of many offices in Singapore. The cleaning company should have office carpet cleaning capabilities to deep clean an area of the office that carries much dirt, girme and bacteria.

Experience

Experience in this industry matters. It is worth your while to research who the cleaning company has serviced for in the past. An honest and reliable cleaning company would be more than willing to share their references and reviews. It can also be beneficial to directly contact these references or past clients to enquire if they were happy with the level of service provided by the cleaning company.

Disinfection Services in Singapore

The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed the cleaning industry in Singapore and globally. Office disinfection services are now a vital and obligatory part of the services you should be looking out for when choosing professional office cleaning services in Singapore. A clean and sanitised working environment is essential to maintain employee morale and safety. Professional disinfection services in Singapore should be carried out using specialised cleaning and disinfection tools to efficiently eliminate the bacteria in the office and prevent any further outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

The Lifeline Service

In the end, your decision should hinge on the value and quality of service that best suits your office needs. Lifeline Cleaning is the top professional cleaning service provider in Singapore that provides contract services, professional one-off and regularly scheduled cleaning services to suit your needs. The flexibility, experience, industry connections, and service excellence make Lifeline Cleaning the ideal choice for your office space.

Different Ways to Keep Your Floor Stain-Free

Clean, stain-free floors are essential for employee satisfaction — no one wants to work in a dirty, unsanitary environment. Floors that have clean and pristine-looking floors tend to impress clients and add to the credibility of your business.

Types of Commercial Floors for Office Cleaning

Tile Floors

Tile floors are the top choice of flooring for businesses because of their resilience and durability. They are used in high-traffic areas because they are low maintenance and don’t pick up stains as easily as carpeted floors.

Commercial Carpet

Carpeted floors give offices a homely and comfortable vibe. Places with carpeted floors need to pay attention to how they maintain their floors. Carpeted floors tend to pick up stains easily and collect debris from all the foot traffic.

Commercial Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors are beautiful, but they do have their challenges. Dirt and grime embed into the naturally porous surface, making them susceptible to damage in high traffic areas such as offices. It is essential to have regular cleaning and maintenance work done on the floors to maintain professional appearances.

How to Clean Commercial Floors

Depending on your business’s flooring, there are different ways to approach cleaning commercial floors in Singapore.

Tile Floors

Tile floors are easy to clean because of their durability. You mainly need a mop, a bucket, a neutral cleaner with a pH of seven and an air mover. To mop tile floors:

1.  Remove large debris by sweeping or vacuuming.

2.   Avoid adding harsh chemicals into your bucket of water, as the solution can strip the finishing of the tiles and give your floor a dull appearance.

3.   Using a string mop instead of a sponge mop will only push dirty water into grout lines, making them harder to clean later.

4.   Change the water frequently.

5.   Set up your air mover to dry the floor faster. You can also buff your floors dry using a microfiber mop.

For tile floors, you need to pay attention to grout lines that are porous and can absorb stains. Using a neutral, natural grout cleaner will ensure the grout sealants do not break down.

While cleaning tile floors on your own is viable, hiring a professional to clean your tiles commercially will guarantee spectacular results much faster. Lifeline Cleaning’s scrubbing and waxing services will bring in our experts with the latest scrubber and polisher machines to easily get those scuffs and stains off your floors. Some stubborn stains require a higher concentration of cleaner solution or stripping of the wax coating. Our professional commercial cleaners will have the knowledge and equipment to make the right decision for you.

Commercial Carpet

There are three ways to clean carpeted floors:

  1. Vacuuming. It is important to regularly vacuum your carpet, even more so right before you start cleaning your carpet to remove as much debris from the material as possible.
  2. Spot cleaning with carpet cleaning solution. It is important to regularly vacuum your carpet, even more so right before you start cleaning your carpet to remove as much debris from the material as possible.
  3. Deep cleaning. Using wet/shampoo extraction cleaning method with disinfectant chemicals. This deep cleaning method prolongs the colour and life of the carpets as well as prevents airborne and dust mites growth.

We highly recommend you engage our professional carpet cleaning services to take care of stains on your office floors. Our professional carpet cleaning and maintenance services create a safe and conducive environment for your employees. Engaging Lifeline Cleaning to maintain your carpet floors regularly will reduce carpet cleaning or replacement costs over time.

Commercial Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors are susceptible to warping or buckling; a gentler approach is required when cleaning them.

  1. As always, sweep your floors regularly with a broom or dry mop, especially before mopping.
  2. Use a microfiber mop instead of a sponge and yarn mop because these mop heads carry too much water and can cause hardwood floors to warp.
  3. Use a solution with a specific pH balance made for hardwood floors.

Commercial cleaning of hardwood floors will be careful to use appropriate sealants that can keep the hardwood finishing looking shiny and new.

Living with COVID: Professional Office Cleaning for a Safe Workplace

Moving Away from a COVID-Zero Plan

If the last two years have taught us anything, it is that the COVID-19 virus is here to stay. The Singapore authorities have announced plans to change their management of COVID in Singapore. Right now, we are in the transitional phase to learn to live with the coronavirus and manage its transmission.

As Singapore shakes itself out of living under lockdown conditions, many Singaporeans are apprehensive about returning to work at the office and worry about the risk of contracting the coronavirus. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has released requirements for Safe Management Measures to prepare for a return to the workplace in January 2022. The government views the workplace as a place where the risk of transmitting the coronavirus is high.

Why Do You Need a Safe Workspace?

To transition into living a life with COVID, a professional cleaning service provider plays a vital role. Lifeline Cleaning is a professional cleaning service that offers commercial cleaning in Singapore.

Keeping office spaces clean and disinfected will be vital in managing the transmission of the COVID-19 as we prepare for this transition into a seemingly “normal” life. The high human traffic at offices and opportunities for intermingling increases the risk of a cluster forming. We have to do our best and stay vigilant to ensure that our local transmission does not skyrocket once we return to working at the office.

Our staff at Lifeline Cleaning are fully trained to ensure our service meets the National Environmental Agency’s guidelines for professional office cleaning and disinfection. General cleaning must be combined with regular disinfection to maintain a sterile and clean work environment.

Why Are Office Disinfection Services Important?

Misting

Doors, handles, handrails, desktops, and keyboards are some examples, to name a few. These places need regular cleaning and disinfection, and Lifeline Cleaning offers thorough office disinfection services curated for your office’s specific needs and considerations.

Making Use of ULV Fogging for Disinfection

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone globally. Needless to say, it has also changed the way offices are cleaned and disinfected, since it is the protocol for establishments or offices in Singapore with positive cases to undergo deep cleaning once there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in their premises.

The COVID-19 virus is a major concern for business owners especially since the closure of offices or establishments would mean a potential loss of revenue. If you or your employees have been exposed to the virus, it is important that you engage professional cleaning services to disinfect all surfaces in order to ensure that disinfection can be done swiftly and effectively.

Professional Disinfection Services By Lifeline Cleaning

Here at Lifeline Cleaning, we are happy to provide our customers in Singapore with disinfection services that will be done efficiently by our skilled team of professionals. By using Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) technology with our Atomer II fogging machine from Korea, we are able to fumigate high-touch surfaces in your office, including its nooks and crannies. In fact, our disinfection service is able to eliminate 99.9% of surface bacteria and viruses upon contact, leaving your office clean and safe for employees once the mist dries by the following day.

Why Do We Use ULV Technology?

ULV technology for disinfection is the practice of using a special misting nozzle on an aerosol to release compressed disinfectant droplets in a consistent manner. This method is used to apply disinfectants, biocides, fungicides or pesticides to a wide variety of surfaces, and can be used indoors as well. During the process of fogging, the fog dispensed is heated as it is dispersed from the nozzle and sinks on surfaces when it cools.

By using the method of UV fogging, sanitisation and disinfection of pathogens can be done quickly and effectively. Furthermore, ULV misting is highly effective when it comes to eradicating microbial contamination in high-traffic areas in your office since this cleaning process is able to target a vast area in a short amount of time.

Why Do We Use ULV Fogging Instead of Antiseptics?

Antiseptic substances are able to stop or slow down the growth of microorganisms and are commonly used in hospitals and medical settings to reduce the risk of infections during medical procedures. While antiseptics are as effective as disinfectants in removing bacteria, antiseptics are typically applied to the body, while the latter is more effective on non-living surfaces such as countertops or tables.

Furthermore, strong antiseptics can cause skin irritation and burns if they are not diluted with water. In general, it is not recommended to leave antiseptic on your skin for an extended period of time, compared to disinfectants used for ULV fogging, which dries up quickly and is safe for contact.

Why Choose Lifeline Cleaning?

While ULV technology coupled with high-quality disinfectants can keep your office bacteria-free, disinfectant coatings do not last forever. To combat COVID-19, engaging a professional disinfection service regularly can help to significantly reduce the chances of your employees or clients contracting the deadly virus at the office.

Here at Lifeline Cleaning, we take pride in our wide range of cleaning services made available for all types of workplaces in Singapore. With a professional team of staff, high-quality cleaning agents and cleaning equipment licensed by the National Environment Agency of Singapore, you can rest assured that our cleaning services are safe and reliable.

When it comes to customer service, we always strive to meet our customer’s expectations. After all, we are listed as one of the 10 Finest Disinfection and Sanitation Services in Singapore. Get in touch with us for a free quotation today!

4 Effective Methods to Get Rid of Dust

Dust, composed of up to five thousand different small particles of materials such as animal dander, the skin we shed, soil particles, smoke and ashes, bacteria, pollen, hair, insect parts, fibres, fungi, and dust mites, can find its way into your home or office and settle on everything. While most types of dust don’t cause severe illnesses, they can cause allergies and sickness. These include symptoms such as coughing, eye irritation, sneezing, and in severe cases, asthma or hay fever.

In offices, dust can cause your employees to fall sick more often. However, it is quite difficult to keep the workplace dust-free since dust can enter your workplace from many different sources. The workplace is also filled with areas that can accumulate dust quickly. A lot of these areas are out of plain sight and hard to reach, so it can be easy to overlook them.

What are some of the effective ways to dust in order to maintain a clean and comfortable working environment?

1. Wipe With a Microfiber Cloth

Microfiber cloths are a highly recommended tool for dusting. From windows to the floor, experts continue to recommend this specific cleaning tool. Its many advantages range from it saving money and outlasting other cleaning cloths to it being safe for the environment and being able to remove 99 per cent of dust on surfaces.

A microfiber cloth works by using its millions of fibres to lift and hold dirt, grease, grime, liquids, and bacteria. The positive-charged polyester fibres and negative-charged nylon fibres actually attract and pull up whatever is on the surface you’re cleaning.

Invest in a microfiber cloth and clean your tabletops at least once a week with it. For dusting, leave the cloth dry and wipe top-down. A damp cloth, on the other hand, would work better for disinfecting. You can spray antibacterial cleaner on it and wipe the table down. After each use, wash the microfiber cloth with water as per its recommended temperature.

2. Use a Blind Duster

Windows can be cleaned regularly, but what about the blinds or shades that cover them? They need some extra attention too. Blinds are great at keeping a room cool, blocking out light, and providing privacy but they are also great at collecting dust, hair, and other dirt that the wind brings. They can be a hassle to clean – but they don’t have to be.

Gather your cleaning supplies first. To tackle your blinds, you are going to need either a specific blind duster or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment. Begin by fully lowering the blinds. Hold the bottom of the blind in one to stabilize it and use the vacuum cleaner or duster to dust, starting from the top and working your way down. Flip the blinds and repeat the process. If dusting is not enough, dampen a fibre cloth with warm water and wipe them down as well. Open them up and let them air-dry.

Clean your blinds at least once a month so the dust accumulation won’t get too bad.

3. Vacuum Carpeted Floors Regularly

Carpets are at a higher risk of dust accumulation. They contain small fibres that can trap a huge amount of dust and dirt. Soon enough, it results in a dusty matted carpet, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

There is no other way around carpet maintenance apart from engaging professional carpet cleaning services or with a vacuum cleaner. And that is a basic first step towards keeping it clean daily. In the long run, carpets need to be professionally cleaned and maintained from time to time to ensure longevity and hygiene level. It maintains the quality of the carpet and upkeeps the cosy and comfortable ambience of your corporate environment.

4. Engage Professional Dusting Services

Your regular janitor might keep your office clean, but they might not be able to keep your office space dust-free, which is why engaging office cleaning services regularly might be a better idea. Janitors might not be able to reach higher areas such as checkered ceilings or running overhead pipes above 3 meters, above the air-conditioner, and above the lights. Engage the help of Lifeline Cleaning’s dusting services to reach the most difficult and unreachable areas where dirt and dust usually accumulate.

Keeping your office dust-free is not always a walk in the park. Get in touch with Lifeline Cleaning today to get a free consultation and leave all your worries (and dust) in the hands of a trusted professional!

Why Regular Disinfection is Important in Singapore Offices

COVID-19 has brought unprecedented human and humanitarian challenges to everyone in the world. Even though the pandemic was an event that even the most extreme business-continuity plans hadn’t envisioned, companies rose to the occasion and acted swiftly to safeguard their employees. For many, this meant a complete shift from their offices to working from home. However, as we are closing towards a 2-year mark since the start of the pandemic, the situation seems to be slowly turning tides again. Although work-from-home remains as the default arrangement, more workers are returning to their offices. With staggered starting hours and the implementation of flexible working hours, companies are finding their way back to having their employees at their desks.

Being able to return to offices to work does not negate the need to keep the concern for workplace safety and cleanliness at an all-time high. In fact, it just makes it all the more a priority. Measures such as banning social gatherings at work have been put into place to reduce the chances of interaction. Now that workplace gatherings are banned, how else can we keep the office clean and safe for staff?

Why is Keeping the Workplace Clean and Sanitary Important?

Early in the pandemic, cleanliness became a high priority. And the importance of frequent cleaning and disinfecting has only increased since then. Workers are increasingly emphatic that the interior of office buildings need that extra layer of defence.

Keeping the office clean can inhibit the spread of communicable diseases. Serious respiratory illnesses are generally spread through coughing or sneezing, touching objects with contaminated hands, and touching your face after touching contaminated objects. This means that COVID-19 can also be spread easily through close contact and airborne particles.

An unsanitary workplace can also cause employees to fall ill more frequently. Thus, it is of utmost importance to keep the workplace safe for employees to return to. In addition to limiting your exposure to the infection, what else should be done to keep the workplace clean and safe?

Declutter Work Desks

The best place you can start with is the work desk. Encourage employees to keep their work desks clean and clutter-free. A messy desk equals a messy mind. It can make individuals feel overwhelmed, stressed out or defeated. With a simple daily routine of decluttering the table, employees can experience a sense of peace and satisfaction, both physically and mentally.

So how does one go about decluttering their desk? Set some time aside for it every day, perhaps 10 minutes. Decrease the paper clutter by digitising as many files as possible. Print documents only when necessary and immediately shred or dispose of the ones you don’t need anymore. Provide your staff with drawer organisers and allow them to customise it by labelling it for all the items on your desk, such as stationery.

Sanitise your own tabletop regularly. This includes your keyboard as well as other high-touch surfaces. Due to the ban on workplace gatherings, you might be eating at your desk. Hence, this should be a daily practice. The visual distraction of a cluttered work environment can make you unproductive and less likely to focus. Stay motivated with a neat and orderly work desk.

Disinfect Shared Spaces

Many areas in the office are accessed by more than one group of people. Places such as the pantry, lobby area and meeting rooms need some extra tender loving care. Use an antibacterial cleaner to clean the surfaces and any objects such as telephones in these areas. High-touch areas such as doorknobs and elevator buttons need to be regularly wiped down too. It will be easier for your employees to remember to clean and sanitise their workspaces when they are equipped with the proper tools they need to do so. Some basic products they must have access to include hand cleaner and hand sanitiser, paper towels, sanitising sprays, and disposable wipes.

Contamination on surfaces touched by employees and customers is one of the main ways that COVID-19 spreads. Hence, it is important for these places to be kept disinfected. Hand sanitisers should also be placed at prominent places around the workplace and regularly refilled.

Engage Professional Disinfection Services

Daily cleaning is great, but it is not enough to remove bacteria completely. Once every few months, the office needs to go through thorough disinfection. It is crucial for maintaining a hygienic and pleasant working environment. Deep cleaning curbs the spread of infections and takes care of clutter and dust.

How is deep cleaning or disinfection different from regular cleaning services? Deep cleaning leaves no stone unturned, seeing to it that all the nooks and crannies, surfaces and corners are cleaned and sanitised. It is a thorough office cleaning procedure that is vital to keep the virus at bay in workplaces.

Professionals are usually brought in to conduct deep cleaning services as they are equipped with the experience to expertly get the job done. At Lifeline Cleaning, we provide disinfection services for premises of all sizes and scales in Singapore. The treatment is affordable, effective, and most importantly safe. We use the Ultra-low Volume (ULV) fogging machine that is designed to produce very small droplets, thus ensuring even coverage with low volumes. The ULV fogging machine relies on an auto dry process, meaning that surfaces do not require rinsing after.

3 Reasons to Engage Professional Cleaning Services For Your Carpet

Wall to wall carpeting is an popular choice among business owners who are afraid of wearing out their office floors within a few years, since renovating the floor is a costly affair. Besides its cost-saving aspect, carpets also give meeting rooms or parts of offices a cosy ambience, allowing clients or prospects to feel more comfortable in a corporate environment.

Cleaning a carpet is not as simple as vacuuming it daily, as carpets need to be professionally cleaned and maintained from time to time to ensure its longevity and hygiene level. Read on to find out why you should engage commercial office cleaning services for office carpets as soon as possible!

1. For Maintenance

When carpets have been walked over and stepped on for months and years on end, you might find them looking dull and matted as dirt from the sole of shoes gets caught up between the fibers of the carpet. You might even start to notice spots and lines within the fibers that are most walked on after six months to a year.

To keep your office carpet in tip-top shape all year round, consider getting it professionally cleaned as a good deep clean might just breathe new life into your old carpet. Besides, by engaging commercial cleaners to maintain your carpet regularly, you can extend the lifespan of your carpet to 10 to 15 years. Put off professional cleaning and you might just need to install a brand new one in five years, tops.

2. Health Benefits

Having your carpet cleaned regularly can improve your health as bacteria, allergens, dust and pollen gets trapped in the fibers of the carpet daily. Since the carpet is within your working area where you and your staff spend hours at, it can increase the amount of dust and allergens in the air of the office, and thus affecting your health eventually. If you find your allergies acting up more often or a redeye when you wake up one day, a dusty carpet might just be the culprit – that is, if you get other parts of the office and the air conditioner cleaned regularly.

3. Better Airflow

In warm and humid Singapore, the last thing you want to feel in the office is stuffiness, and a dirty carpet can be the main cause of a stuffy office. When your carpet gets clogged with dust and dirt after a long period of time without proper cleaning, airflow will be compromised. If it gets to this point where the office feels stuffy even with the airconditioning on due to the carpet, your best fix would be to call in the professionals for a deep cleaning, as regular vacuuming will no longer be able to remove all the debris trapped between the fibers.

Why Engage a Professional?

You might be tempted to give your carpet a deep clean by yourself, as it is a cost-saving solution but you should know that carpet cleaning is not for amateurs as it involves chemical tools and advanced equipment for good results.

Here at Lifeline Cleaning, our carpet cleaning service can obliterate the dirt and gunk that has collated in your carpet fibers for months and years with our equipment and highly trained team of professional cleaners. With our solution of carpet shampoo, water and specialised cleaning techniques (dry and steam cleaning), you can rest assured that your carpet can return to its former glory.

How to Clean a House Efficiently

For some, cleaning is therapeutic and can be a way of destressing since decluttering helps to clear the mind and the act of cleaning can be symbolic or might even spark joy. However, if you are one to detest cleaning your room, the thought of cleaning the entire house would probably irk you. Either way, there are instances where you see dust and dirt piling up, with little time to clean. Fret not as Lifeline Cleaning, a professional cleaning company in Singapore, has a few tips and tricks that you can use to clean your home in the shortest time possible.

Step 1: Dusting Your House

Unfortunately, those tiny specks floating around your home were not created by magic. Dust is inevitable. It settles over everything and is often the underlying cause of allergies. But it doesn’t have to stay where it has settled. Here is how to take a streamlined approach to rid your home of dust. Using these smart strategies, you might even be able to breathe properly again.

The recommended plan of attack starts with identifying where to start dusting first. Starting on the ground would stir up dust rather than get rid of it. Work top-down. In each room, start with the topsides of all the furniture, undersides of shelves, and all handrails, picture frames, TV screens, and any other items. Invest in a microfiber cloth and duster and find yourself at ease, especially when it comes to hard-to-reach corners and crevices.

Don’t forget the walls of your home! Vacuum your ceilings and walls at least once a month. Dust is no fun to deal with, but it is important to stay on top of it and minimise your exposure to it.

Step 2: Clean Surfaces

As daunting as it may be to clean every surface in your house, having a game plan to it makes it a smooth process. As smooth as those countertops will be once you clean them!

Start by having an organised list of surfaces to clean. It would be best to have high-touch surfaces highest on that list. These should be cleaned regularly, and especially after you have had visitors in your home. Doorknobs, tables, handles, light switches, and countertops are some of the key areas you can focus on. Moving down on the list, you have got surfaces that are visibly dirty. Bathrooms and kitchens are areas that harbour germs, so give them a good scrub down.

A wide array of disinfectants and sanitisers are available in the market. Be sure to read the labels of these products to understand how to use them and the areas in which they can be used most effectively. For example, for glass surfaces, a non-abrasive, all-purpose cleaner should be used. When taking care of wooden surfaces, you can opt to polish them with oil or wax.

Step 3: Vacuum and Mop Floors

Yes, there is a right way to vacuum and mop your households! Strategy comes into play once again. To avoid bumping into furniture and scratching it, and thoroughly cleaning under and around it or simply move the furniture out of the way before vacuuming or mopping. Always start inside a room and vacuum or mop your way outside of it. There are several areas that we tend to miss out. The vacuum is your best weapon of choice for these nooks and crannies – window sills, mattresses, drawers, heating ducts and air conditioning vents, and dryer lint chamber.

If you are in a time crunch, stick to vacuuming or mopping the high-traffic walkways, and leave the rest for whenever you find the time to clean.

When Time is of The Essence, Think Fast!

Your friend just called; she is dropping by to hang out in 20 minutes, but your house is in an absolute mess – what do you do? You don’t have time to follow the above steps to vacuum every nook and cranny of your house or dust your countertops. Here’s how you can speed clean in under 15 minutes.

Grab ahold of your favourite air freshener and spray away those unpleasant odours. Pop a window open to get the stale air moving, and the fresh air in. Clutter can be a sight for sore eyes. Now is not the time to worry about organising, find a place out of sight to temporarily store it until your guest leaves. Don’t forget to clear the sink too!

Lastly, the mirror is your best friend. Freshen up or take a shower. It is more likely that your friend will spend time looking at you, rather than scrutinising the house. If you have time to spare, spend them on small chores, focusing on the rooms that they might spend time in. And there you go, the best way to clean your house when there is no time to lose.

Know The Difference Between Industrial Cleaning and Commercial Cleaning

Looking back at 2020, health and safety have quickly risen to be at the helm of everyone’s priorities. And rightfully so. We all want to be protected and protected well. In order to do exactly that, it is important to be aware of the ways in which protection can be sought. In this pursuit, it is easy to come across the many different types of cleaning that are available to us – two of which are industrial cleaning and commercial cleaning.

Industrial cleaning is the act of cleaning hazardous areas in industrial facilities such as factories or warehouses whereas commercial cleaning emphasises the cleanliness of commercial spaces such as office buildings. In a broader sense, that is to say, there are differences between both. Both come with their own set of challenges. Nonetheless, the importance lies in the processes being carried out correctly.

When to Use Commercial Cleaning?

Commercial premises come with their own set of standards for health and safety. Additionally, they have a completely different set of key areas that require a thorough clean. Commercial waste clean-up, hazardous cleanup, or heavy cleaning are understood to be what defines commercial cleaning.

Commercial premises comprise retail, office, supermarkets, schools, banks and other high traffic areas. These premises, with their constant flow of people, increase the chances of germs and bacteria coming in through the door. These premises all differ in their set of standards and present unique sets of cleaning challenges. This highlights the importance of choosing a good commercial cleaning service provider – one who is able to place emphasis on the cleanliness of commercial spaces has high cleaning standards, and is able to meet the requirements of its customers.

When to Use Industrial Cleaning?

Industrial cleaning service providers must be knowledgeable, skilled, and ready to face challenges. They must be equipped with the correct training, equipment and tools to complete the job. Why all the strict requirements for industrial cleaning? Industrial cleaning has more hazards than a commercial building. It is vital to understand how to properly handle hazardous waste and ensure that the industrial environment is kept free of contaminants.

Cleaning services that are employed for industrial cleaning mainly focus on hygiene standards. Different industrial operations comply with other health and safety standards. The hiring of industrial cleaning services should be based on the operations carried out in the business – this highlights the relevance of the health and safety standards of different businesses. Industrial cleaning services must be able to meet the standards of the industries that require industrial cleaning, and it has to be done right.

To summarise, industrial cleaning, as compared to commercial cleaning, is on a larger scale. Industrial cleaners must be trained, pay thorough attention to detail and be knowledgeable and skilled about the specialised techniques and machinery, as well as safety equipment that is necessary for industrial cleaning.

Why Choose Lifeline Cleaning?

It is evident that commercial cleaning and industrial cleaning have vastly differing requirements. The professional cleaning services that are employed to carry out such services must be able to meet these requirements, not just of the customers but of the health and safety standards of the buildings.

Lifeline Cleaning provides everything that you are looking for, and then some. Their trained personnel can tackle any challenges that come their way. Affordable and hassle-free while focusing and prioritising the needs of the customer first. During this period of time, customers pay more attention to the overall cleanliness and the hygiene of cafes and restaurants. By engaging professional cleaning services, you will never have to worry about not meeting the expectations of your customers or the NEA and, at the same time lower the possibility of virus transmission within your establishment.

Does Your Restaurant Kitchen Need Deep Cleaning?

Does Your Restaurant Kitchen Need Deep Cleaning?

The kitchen is the heart of every restaurant and the revenue-generating room of your business. This means that it is highly important that the kitchen is always kept at its cleanest, especially during times like this with the ongoing pandemic. Besides, having a dirty kitchen would result in a poor grade from Singapore’s National Environmental Agency (NEA) and could hurt your brand’s reputation.

Yes, your staff might wash and scrub kitchen surfaces and the floor every night during closing time, but is that really enough, and does that uphold the best standards of hygiene for your establishment and NEA? The clear answer is no, as every restaurant’s kitchen requires deep cleaning services from professional cleaning services in Singapore from time to time. Read to find out how to maintain the highest level of hygiene in your restaurant.

Start With The Grimiest Areas

The Floor

Oil, crumbs, syrups and sauces spill and splatter on the kitchen floor during slam time. Your chefs and staffs might do cleanup religiously every night, but there is no way they will be able to clean up stains and spills immediately during the dinner rush, and we are all familiar with food splatter that is left to dry on its own – they stick, and it almost never comes off completely unless with professional cleaning tools.

Appliances and Equipment

Not all kitchen appliances come into direct contact with food, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be cleaned regularly. Oil and grease stick onto the surfaces of these appliances due to the kitchen’s humid environment, and we should not neglect these surfaces. And no, a simple wet cloth soaked in soap is insufficient to rid these germs.

To ensure the highest level of hygiene, appliances such as the fridge, interior of the oven, microwave oven and coffee machines should also be dismantled (if possible) and thoroughly cleaned or washed whenever possible.

Sinks and Washing Stations

Washing stations might look clean since it is normally kept further away from all the grime and grease, but don’t let your eyes fool you, as all the gunk that you clean out from your appliances and wash off in the sink might still be lingering somewhere at the bottom of the kitchen sink. But the good news is these areas can be easily cleaned with a strong dose of cleaning chemical, which dissolves solidified gunk in your sink.

Vents and Kitchen Hoods

With heavy usage of the kitchen hood and ventilation system, you should also have a routine cleaning and servicing roster to ensure that the ventilation system is working well at all times. In fact, a ventilator that is not working at its optimal is unable to filter out vapour and condensation as effectively, which leads to an unhygienic build-up of grease and grime on surfaces in the kitchen. As a general rule of thumb, deep cleaning done by an industrial cleaning professional should be done more often if your establishment uses the deep fryer frequently.

Get Your Kitchen Squeaky Clean With Lifeline Cleaning

Here at Lifeline Cleaning, we understand that as a restaurant owner, cleanliness is of the utmost priority but not the sole priority. It can be overwhelming to oversee the cleanliness of every corner of your kitchen for the safety of your customers, but we’ve got you covered.

Deep cleaning an industrial kitchen is no easy task, but our restaurant cleaning team is more than equipped to deal with any type of kitchens at local restaurants. We provide reliable and efficient restaurant cleaning services that will ensure a good grade from the NEA when the time for a hygiene inspection comes.

This is Why You Are Constantly Sneezing in The Office

Do you find yourself getting the sniffles every time you are in the office? You feel fine outdoors, and in the train on the way to work but you start sneezing multiple times whenever you arrive in the office in the morning. You thought your desk was unsanitary and did a major spring clean in the weeks leading up to Chinese New Year, but your flu symptoms don’t seem to be improving. Maybe it’s the air-conditioning, maybe it’s just your nose, but what is it about the office that is triggering your allergies all the time? Read on to find out!

Non-allergic Rhinitis

Most people suffering from blocked nose, runny nose or flu symptoms without feeling sick are probably experiencing a case of Rhinitis, which is commonly termed the “Sensitive Nose”. Rhinitis is categorised into two types – allergic and non-allergic. Individuals with non-allergic Rhinitis usually find themselves displaying flu-like symptoms when there is a change in temperature and when they are exposed to perfumes or cigarette smoke.

Allergic Rhinitis, however, is due to the exposure to a particular allergen – usually dust mites, cat, dog fur or even grass. Does your workplace have an office pet? It might just be the reason behind your consecutive sneezing.

Air-conditioner Allergy

It isn’t just a coincidence that your nasal passages feel irritated whenever the air-conditioning is at full blast in the office. You don’t feel cold, but somehow you just can’t seem to stop sneezing. Contrary to popular belief, you are not allergic to the air-conditioner. Rather, you are allergic to the contaminants and dust trapped and recirculated through your office’s air-conditioner. If the air-conditioner is poorly maintained at your workplace, it might even have mould and mildew growth due to the damp conditions from water leakage. Just imagine the air-conditioner spreading these bacteria all over the office, no wonder your nose acts up so often!

Dust and Allergens

More often than not, whether you have Rhinitis or a neglected air-conditioner, the likely culprit for your runny nose at work is simply the accumulated dust from many surfaces in your workplace. Even if your office seems mostly spick and span, dust mites, pollen and mould are common and invisible allergy triggers that are likely present in your workplace. Plus, office buildings in Singapore are usually poorly ventilated with sealed windows, so plenty of dust settles on surfaces that you come into contact with daily.

Yes, there is probably plenty of dusty areas in your home but you don’t find yourself sneezing excessively at home. This is because you probably open your windows to ventilate your rooms and also turn on the fan regularly when you are home, sending the allergens out the window. Not to mention, you would also have done spring cleaning from time to time at home, preventing dust from accumulating at a single spot.

Let Lifeline Cleaning Rid Your Workplace of Dust!

5 Dirtiest Nooks and Crannies of Your Workplace and How to Clean Them

Other than your own home, the second place that you will be spending most of your time would be your workplace. You keep your house spotless, but is your office anywhere as clean as your bedroom? Read on to find out the grimiest spots of your workplace that you can help to keep clean – or avoid!

1. Your Trusty Keyboard and Mouse

It might not be news to you that our hands are our dirtiest body part since they come into contact with countless foreign objects daily. Surprise surprise, what do our hands come into contact with the most on a regular workday? Our computer keyboard and mouse!

Research has shown that an estimated 16 million microbes which include E.Coli, Staph, salmonella and norovirus (a cousin of Covid-19) cover the nooks and crannies of your keyboard. As for your mouse, there are at least 46 000 times more icky stuff on it than on a single toilet flush handle.

However, you can always clean them up easily with antibacterial wipes weekly, or if you feel like it, maybe even daily.

2. That One Sponge in The Kitchen

Did you know that the coffee mugs in your office might contain germs and bacteria from faecal matter? Yes – you read that right, you could be sipping on nasty stuff right now and the culprit? The dishwashing sponge in the pantry that has been in use for the past 3 months. The reason why the dishwashing sponge can hold a high amount of germs and bacteria is due to the fact that it is almost always moist and absorbent, which makes it a perfect host for E.Coli and salmonella. In fact, these bacteria can start growing within 3 weeks of using the sponge.

Keeping the dishwashing sponge clean and safe is fairly easy. Simply change one every 2 weeks, even if it looks new or usable.

3. Door Handles

Yes, yet another surface that our hands are constantly in contact with and we don’t just mean the handles on toilet doors or the office door. Door handles on microwave ovens and refrigerators should not be neglected as well.

To keep these surfaces clean, wipe them with antibacterial wipes daily. You can also use some hand sanitiser after every time your hands come into contact with any of these surfaces.

4. The Office Refrigerator

Half-eaten food and perishables are the perfect breeding ground for germs. In fact, the average refrigerator contains about 7900 bacteria colonies forming per unit, per square inch and refrigerators are huge. The produce drawer in itself can house 750 times the amount of bacteria that is safe for our bodies.

Armed with this knowledge, you can now tell your colleagues to refrain from keeping unfinished food for more than a day, and to clean out the refrigerator with a strong antibacterial cleanser every 2 days.

5. The Shared Water Dispenser

It is needless to say that communal items or stations house the most germs since many people come into contact with it daily. But the water dispenser only dispenses water, how can it be dirty? Well, moisture is key for bacteria to reproduce and grow, that’s why. It would be disgusting to be drinking contaminated water, wouldn’t it? All the more you should take initiative to keep the office’s water dispenser clean and germ-free.

Wondering how to clean a water dispenser? We can help you with that. Running hot water through the water dispenser will help to kill any germs on the dispenser and it will also help if you run your water bottle through hot water every day before use.

What is deep cleaning? Should I still visit the place when it reopens?

With everyone being so wary of high-touch surfaces like doorknobs or lift buttons during the pandemic, demand for professional cleaning or disinfection services have increased sharply because people tend to err on the side of caution. This is no surprise as professional disinfection can help to reassure the public that the shop or mall is safe to visit and shop in. It acts as a security blanket for customers and as a form of income protection for shop owners as it can prevent shoppers from contracting the virus by minimising contamination in their shop.

If you are in search of a provider for professional disinfection services, you are in luck as Lifeline Cleaning provides a range of professional cleaning services for offices, industrial facilities and restaurants. First Things First, Fumigation

Here at Lifeline Cleaning, we use the cutting-edge Atomer II fogging machine from Korea to fumigate targeted areas plus every nook and cranny of your office or shop. Our process can eliminate 99.9% of surface bacteria and viruses upon contact, making it the perfect choice for Covid-19 preventative disinfection work. Fumigation can also be carried out in facilities with heavy machineries as the mist is safe for equipment.

Once fine particle misting is completed, all surfaces in your workplace will be disinfected with the chemicals present in the mist. The premises will be ready for use by the next day after the mist dries. There is absolutely no rinsing or wiping required after fumigation is completed as the surfaces will dry automatically after.

We Kill Germs, and Only Germs

There are concerns that chemicals and disinfectant used during professional disinfection can have respiratory effects on people such as increase in asthma attacks and shortness of breath. Rest assured that chemicals and materials used during our disinfection process are approved by Singapore’s National Environmental Agency and are absolutely safe for humans and also safe for disinfecting food processing equipment. Other than ensuring the public’s safety, we also take care of our staff by making sure that they are fully protected in personal protective equipment (PPE) while fumigation is still in process, since the chemicals will be dispensed in the air. This will also ensure a low chance of cross contamination.
